Hello Lego fans,
I'm a teacher at a small school (www.wondertree.org) and my students, ages 6-9 years old, want to build a Lego house they can walk into and sit and eat their lunch. We have done some planning and calculations and have discovered that we need 21000, yes twenty-one thousand!!, 2x4 Lego bricks to complete the simple structure. We are looking for donations of Lego. We are also willing to borrow Lego bricks (we'd take a careful inventory first). We are also willing to purchase Lego bricks if the price is right. (We are a non-profit school). The bricks can by 2x2, 2x3, 2x4 or 2x8 and any colour.
We are located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
We are open to people coming and helping us build the structure and help us solve any problems that may arise as the structure is being built.
Please send me a message if you can help or if you have any ideas for our project.
Thank You Lego maniacs!

Thu, January 25, 2007 - 7:46 AMThank you!!! I totally appreciate any support. Even if you send an email to your friends asking for Lego donations, that would make a huge difference. Are you in Vancouver? If you want to come help build it, you would be most welcome. Keep in touch!

I'd also be happy to pay shipping and handling to mail any Lego collected to Vancouver.
Thanks!

Re: My students need 21000 Lego bricks -Vancouver BC
Mon, February 19, 2007 - 11:52 AMif you use duplo as well that would divide the result significantly. not sure how wide you want to make the house, but would assume it would be at least 4 studs wide, 2 studs wide would flop over if it got any significant height. if you had a 4 wide wall, then adding duplo bricks here and there would be fluid, and they are 8 normal 2x4 bricks a piece ( a 2x4 duplo stud brick that is ) duplo is generally easier to come by second hand as well. bon chance! -
