I've always had this dream of building a big lego town as detailed as possible. I've decided to stop dreaming and start working on it starting January 2005. I'm not exactly sure where to start though. I know I don't have nearly enough Lego yet. I have huge buckets of Lego way back home but it's too much and too expensive to have my mom ship it.
Not sure if I should start REALLY small with whatever pieces I can use now or go get some more bricks, like the cheap assorted bucket.

Re: Lego Town
Mon, December 20, 2004 - 3:06 PMSo how are you going to do this? Design your own town or use the instructions from the kits that Lego sells? I think that would be pretty cool to do too... if I had the time.
Post some pics if you start making some progress in Jan. :) -

Re: Lego Town
Mon, December 20, 2004 - 3:15 PMBuild my own. Perhaps incorporate certain small sets. I'll have to start really small then maybe rearrange my bedroom a bit hehe. I might have my mom mail the old battery packs I had since they don't seem to be available anymore. That way the town might be able to have some lights later on.
I will definitely be posting photos! -

Re: Lego Town
Tue, December 21, 2004 - 9:13 AMGood plan Zell, perhaps there are some tribe friends who can send you their Lego-bricks if they don’t “play” with them anymore. You could have my bricks, but I gave them to my nephew. I can’t take the Lego back from him, because he plays a lot with it.
Don’t forget to update us with some pictures.

Re: Lego Town
Sun, January 23, 2005 - 12:24 AMOkay, I've started ...somewhat. I posted a couple shots of the fire house with green plates on each side. I don't have any roof tiles and very little random bricks so I figured I'd give the two little buildings flat roofs for now. I'll of course change this later when I get more of the bricks I need. So far people aren't a problem. I have a healthy amount of mini figures now but will probably spring for the 'community workers' pack some time.

Sun, January 23, 2005 - 3:51 AMNice pictures and a great start for your Lego town. It’s a safe start too, no chance of houses burning down now; the fire brigade is ready to put out any fire.
Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Re: Lego Town - Update 02/02/05
Wed, February 2, 2005 - 10:22 PMThe town's actually coming along nicely. I got a couple road plates, roof tiles and flowers. I actually don't have much room on my bedroom floor, but I'm thinking of extending the road going left and it should build nicely around a cabinet I have near the houses.
I find that I still need more random bricks and might have to spring for a crate of 'em. -

Thu, February 3, 2005 - 1:17 AMLooks like a nice town to me already, a shortage of random bricks is a universe problem for all of us I guess.
Keep us updated with these nice pictures as the city expands.

Lego Town Update - 02/24/05: New Photos
Thu, February 24, 2005 - 1:11 PMAdded new road plates and started work on a 'beach' area. The beach area was added mainly because I had a lifeguard tower I wanted to blend in some how. As you may see, space is limited. Maybe I'll get rid of my bed and sleep standing up. :)
I also added a couple 'group' shots of all my people. Please feel free to keep adding your own photos to the album. I don't want to feel like I'm hogging it. -

Re: Lego Town - Update 03/09/05
Wed, March 9, 2005 - 2:09 PMI am a person obsessed now. This town has taken on a life of its own. I've posted a few new shots. Extended beach and a new coastal watch center.
More shots are at brickshelf.com:

The new pictures might not be available to the public right away.

Re: Lego Town
Fri, June 24, 2005 - 8:33 AMThe madness continues. New pictures of the 'Building Bonanza' set I call the Mayor's Mansion, because in this town it is. Road's been expanded and a couple new buildings are up. I've lucked out and found a woman selling her son's Lego incredibly cheap. -

Sun, January 15, 2006 - 12:56 PMI've been lazy taking photos, but not with building the town. I've added a few new photos to the tribe's album. I took over 60 though and have uploaded them on Flickr. You can see them all here: www.flickr.com/photos/win...ets/621398/ -

Re: Lego Town
Sun, January 15, 2006 - 3:12 PMYour town looks great. Love the beach area.
Made me jealous as I'm still not allowed to remove my train and town from the family home. Mum says I can have it when I have a 30 foot shed to put it in.
We have some Lego sets here but my boys aren't content with leaving them together like I like to do.

Re: Lego Town
Wed, July 25, 2007 - 6:10 AMi have done some small towns with my legos..i have some 50kg (approx) but its never enough..i stick on middle age towns and castles...once i built a castle, and kept adding new small town houses and mills around it...time zone helps to collect certain colours, and bricks..in last few years i concantrated on minifugs..thats all..creating a town seems like hassle for me..moving around lots and shipping legos preety much impossible...but i can always ship minifigs around..

Re: Lego Town
Tue, July 31, 2007 - 9:14 PMThe best way to do a lego town is to get together with a bunch of people and put one together at a model train show... find your nearest LUG (Lego User Group) or LTC (Lego Train Club) if you haven't already... see www.lugnet.com to get started.
